The Lambda Chi Alpha. Epsilon Iota Chapter Records consist of 3.1 cubic feet and contain materials from both Kappa Lambda, 1923-1926, and the Epsilon Iota chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha, 1928-current. Materials include the fraternity's oath, pledge, motto, petition for charter, constitution, statutory code, member rolls, newspaper clippings, and minutes. There is correspondence from U. S. Senator Alan Bible, who was a charter member of the Epsilon Iota Chapter and served as Chair of the Building Committee of the Alumni Association of the chapter in the 1950s. Records from 1964-1984 include a card drawing of the original fraternity house. The collection also includes manuals of fraternal education and other materials from the national Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. There are also some records for the Crescents of Lambda Chi Alpha, the women's auxiliary to the Epsilon Iota Chapter in Reno. Some annual photographs include the Crescents as well as members of the fraternity. Photographs (1923-2010) have been transferred to the Photograph Archives as collection UNRA-P3427.

Kappa Lambda was a local fraternity founded at the University of Nevada on October 1, 1921. In 1928, Kappa Lambda submitted a petition for charter to the national fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha, and the Nevada Epsilon Iota chapter was established on the Nevada campus in 1929. The Crescents, the women students' auxiliary to the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha, was established in the 1960s but was disbanded due to insurance coverage concerns. The Lambda Chi Alpha (LCA) fraternity chapter at Ohio University (OU) was initiated by four men in 1916. The original name, Phi Kappa Epsilon, as replaced by Alpha Tau Epsilon one year later to avoid confusion with another fraternity. ATE was incorporated by national LCA in 1918. LCA was forced to give up its charter in 1937 due to financial difficulties. It later reappeared on OU campus as Lambda Chi Delta. In 1968 the charter was revoked due to discriminatory acts. LCA appeared again in 1972. ...
